About Kate

Kate is a multidisciplinary artist based in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Her artistic journey began at the age of four when she declared herself an artist, and was featured in her first juried exhibit that same year.

Known for her vibrant abstract landscapes, fine art photography, and non-representational abstract paintings, Kate draws inspiration from the light, colors, and beauty that surround her in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Her work is not only recognized in private collections worldwide, but also holds a place in the permanent collections of prestigious institutions such as the William J. Clinton Foundation and the Arts and Science Center of Southeast Arkansas, as well as The Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque and The Christus Saint Vincent Cancer Center in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

When Kate first experienced the magical light of New Mexico in 2007, she immediately felt like she belonged there. After a long and winding course over the next eight years, in 2015, she managed to move into her first live/work studio in Santa Fe, and knew she was finally home. Since then, she has bought a home on the outskirts of town and relishes the quiet beauty of the mountains, sunsets, and sunrises, while still being close enough to enjoy the vibrant art community of Santa Fe.  She has enjoyed being included in several invitational exhibits there, as well as a solo exhibit in 2024, with more on the horizon soon.

Kate continues to be inspired daily by Northern New Mexico. The colors, the light, the clouds, the animals, and the spirit of the high desert are sinking into her bones, bringing a deep healing process. She is inspired to expand her artwork in new directions, both with her painting, her photography, and the exciting places where the two overlap.

“Where desert light meets playful imagination.”

ARTIST STATEMENT

Inspired by the wild charm of New Mexico’s landscapes and animals, I create colorful, whimsical paintings that invite joy, peace, and a sense of wonder. My work blends imagination and place, transforming everyday moments into small celebrations of beauty and story. Through paintings, prints, and small batch artist-made goods, I aim to bring joy, color, and inspiration into people’s daily lives.
