My friend Lisa loved this one so much, I named it for her. “Lisa’s Clouds” is a view of my mountains with the golden afternoon light reflecting off both the big billowing clouds and the prairie fields below. It’s very special to me because it’s a view of one of the mountain ranges I can see from my home, the Sangre de Christos. I love seeing how they change throughout the seasons. Some days I can see the layers of hills in front of each other. Some mornings when I wake up, there are clouds resting along the ground among those hills. On other days the mountains are more of a flat silhouette, getting smaller and more faint as they spread northward to Colorado. In the fall, I relish watching the Aspens show their colors, and in the winter seeing the whitewash of fresh snow. My mountains have become a welcome constant for me in tumultuous times. I hope at least some of my love for them comes through in my paintings.
