I keep painting the scenery around Abiquiu. Maybe it’s because I’ve been so influenced by O’Keeffe. It IS called O’Keeffe country after all. Or maybe it’s because the landscape is so iconic and majestic. Maybe it’s all of the richly saturated colors that pull me in. Or the Chama River.Or Cerro Pedernal. Most likely, it’s a combination of all of those things and more, combining into a giant magnet that pulls me back over and over again. I’m past questioning why I’m so drawn there. I just try to appreciate it and soak it all up, a feast for my eyes and soul, to last until I can be there again. Meanwhile, I’ll dream about it, and paint yet another painting of Abiquiu.
