When I finished this painting I had no idea of the new and exciting direction my work would take. All I knew was that I was feeling stagnant and needed to bring some fun and play into my life.
Since painting is one of my favorite things to do, it just made sense to try to bring some playfulness into my work. So I started playing, thinking I wouldn’t even show my new work to anyone. It was just play. Just for me. But it was so fun and happy when she was finished, I couldn’t help showing her! I think some of the joy she brings me has translated into the painting because she has become one of my most popular pieces!
Inviting more fun and play into my work has transformed not only my work, but has influenced my life too. Our time on this blue planet is too short to put off play, spontaneity, and adventure. So today, remember Missy, and go outside and play!
